RG-65, Wednesday practice...

This boat has an interesting aluminum keel fin, it appears to flex significantly under heel, I'll be interested to see how it does on the water...

Mark Smith of Virginia replaces a servo in his self-built "Dark Matter", essentially a scaled down Albacore made of 6 oz. carbon with a light fiberglass overlay.

An AC boat was also present, but lost it's rudder...AC boats have no servo restrictions, note the jib twitcher!

Nice view with keel...

Sail winch, rudder, jib twitcher, oh my!

A discussion of the finer points of leech control...

Skippers search for wind.

Had a chance to visit with Craig Huzway of Breaking Wind Boats and sail his Paqinto, essentially a scaled down Pikanto with a swing rig. In trials the boat seemed pretty fast, I was able to wring a lot of performance out of it.

Swing Rigs seem popular, and relatively easy to tune. I found the principles of vane sailing strangely applicable to getting in the groove with the swing rig...

The wind came up eventually, and it was a beautiful afternoon for those wanting to get ready for tomorrow...

White Rock Lake, with a portion of downtown Dallas rising up in the background...
